Your Weekly Home Cleaning Checklist

They say that a clean home is a happy home. And true to that, it’s always refreshing and stress-free coming home to a house that’s spick and span. I mean, who would want to come home to piles of laundry, a sink with dirty dishes, and an overflowing garbage bin, right?

Understandably, not everyone can afford cleaning their homes every day. Some have jobs to go to from morning to evening. Others come home too tired to even think about cleaning up.

That’s perfectly fine. It’s normal. However, we should at least allocate one day a week to catch up on chores and clean our homes. It’s not only for comfort purposes, but it’s also for your safety. Dirt and bacteria build-up can take a toll on your health.

Spend a few hours on weekends to clean your home. Here’s a checklist of weekly chores you need to get done:

Living Room

The living room is where the whole family gathers to spend time together. This is usually the most used area of the entire house. Naturally, most of the outside dust and dirt stays in the living room. So you have to make sure you clean this part of the house weekly.

  • Clean the fans. Wipe the blades and screen of your fan to get rid of dust particles.
  • Wipe the television, tables, and other appliances.
  • Vacuum the rug and the sofa.
  • Clear out the clutter. Often, things that belong to other rooms are taken to the living room. Your children would bring their toys. You would bring your books or work documents. This causes clutter in the living room. Take these things back where they belong.

Kitchen and Dining Room

The kitchen and dining room are places where we prepare food and have our meals. A dirty and unhygienic kitchen and dining room might contaminate our food. So make sure it’s very clean and free from bacteria.

  • Scrub the toilets.
  • Disinfect the sink and drainage.
  • Change the towels.

Bedrooms

The bedroom has to be the most comfortable place in the entire house to help us get a good night’s rest.

  • Take out dirty clothes and throw them in the laundry.
  • Change the sheets, pillowcases, and blankets.
  • Make the bed. Make it a habit to make your bed when you wake up in the morning so you can come home to a clean and organized bedroom every day.
  • Organize the closet. Because of the morning rush, we sometimes tend to quickly grab clothes from the closet and leave it a mess. Use the weekend to reorganize your drawers and cabinets.
