Is a 60-hour workweek a regular thing for you? Do you find yourself working even when you’re already home? Are most of your weekends also spent getting some work done? Well, if your answer is “yes” to even just one of these questions, you’re letting your job take over your life.
Don’t let this happen! It’s time high time to take your life back. So cut back on your work hours, go out, and live more. Take a look at some ways you can live your life more fully.
Make time for travel
Travel is one of the best experiences in life. It lets you see wonderful places, experience different cultures, taste exotic food, meet new people, etc. And what’s great about travel is it’ll let you physically get away from all the stress, especially your work, enabling you to refresh and recharge your mind. Just be sure that you don’t do anything work-related (like check your work e-mail on your smartphone) when you travel so that you can truly escape your work.
So where can you go? For one, you can go to Rome and see magnificent architectural wonders like the Colosseum, the Pantheon, and the Castle Saint Angelo. You can also head to Sydney and rent a luxury boat. Moreover, you can visit Singapore and try delicious local dishes, such as laksa, satay, and Hainanese chicken rice, at any of the city-state’s famous hawker centers. If you’re more into nature, travel to Kenya, Botswana, or Tanzania and go on a safari. Going to tropical islands like Fiji, Maldives, and Seychelles will let you enjoy nature as well. Wherever you choose to go, the important thing is that you have fun and experience something new on your trip.
Take up a new hobby
For sure, your hobby is a great source of enjoyment in your life. But other than being fun, your hobby can also help you challenge yourself because you sometimes have to learn new skills to perform an activity. What’s more, having a hobby has many health benefits. Hobbies relieve stress and help keep the mind sharp and active. If it’s a physical activity, a hobby can even be a great form of exercise that’ll help you stay fit and active.
If you already have a hobby, then great! But it won’t hurt to get into a new one, right? With a new hobby, not only can you have fun, but you can also experience trying something new. When deciding on a new hobby, consider something different from the ones you already have. For example, if you love reading, why don’t you get into a hobby like playing badminton or bowling? That’ll let you be more active this time. Or if you’re into rock climbing or skateboarding, you can choose a more laid-back activity like painting or gardening. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone when taking up a new hobby. You can always drop the activity if you don’t like it.
Give yourself some love
You’re not really living if you don’t know how to give yourself some love, so better make it a habit to pamper yourself. Self-love will help boost your mood, relax and recharge your mind and body, and relieve stress. And when it involves taking care of your body, it’ll also make you look good and young. Simply put, showing yourself some love can make you feel good inside and out.
Start with having some me-time. Do something you love or do nothing at all; just live in the moment, focus only on yourself, and forget about your worries during your alone time—be it five minutes or 24 hours. Next, indulge yourself. If you love chocolate ice cream, for example, then go ahead and eat to your heart’s content from time to time. Or buy those designer clothes, shoes, or bags that you’ve had your eye on for some time now. Of course, you can also pamper yourself by taking care of your body. Go to the salon to get your hair and nails done or to the spa to get a massage. Don’t ever feel guilty about giving yourself some love because you deserve it.
Live Your Life to the Fullest
Being dedicated to your job is an admirable thing, but your work shouldn’t be taking over your entire life. Take your life back by living life to the fullest. Start living more fully by making time for travel, taking up a new hobby, and giving yourself some love.
