Botox Kent is a facial aesthetics treatment which reduces the look of fine lines and wrinkles. A Botox injection will rejuvenate and soften the appearance of ageing skin, but no surgical procedure will be involved. The injectable solution typically used is botulinum toxin type A in facial aesthetics treatments. This injectable solution will relax the muscles in the face, however the treatment is not permanent and lasts up to 3-4 months. It can be repeated every 3 months, as the effects of the Botox will eventually wear off.
What does the Botox treatment consist of?
The Botox treatment will initially start off with cleansing an individual’s face, then the botulinum toxin will be inserted into the facial muscles with an injection. This will be conducted with a very fine needle. Afterwards expression lines will disappear from an individual’s face, this is because it blocks the nerve impulses. It will eventually smooth out the skin giving a fresh and youthful appearance to the face. If a patient wants to have injections in different places, they will be asked to move the muscles in their face. This is done as it will help find the best areas for the injection placement. This will typically take around 10 minutes depending on how much is being done and does not require an anaesthetic. The results can vary in time frame and can take up to 4-7 days to see a difference. Areas of the face that can be treated are: frown lines, crow’s feet, forehead lines, eyebrows and any lines around the mouth area.
Who cannot have Botox?
Many individuals may not be able to have Botox if they have the following conditions: skin infections, signs of an illness, neuromuscular conditions, use of other medication and when pregnant or breastfeeding.
Aftercare of Botox injections
Results are not immediate, it can take around 4-7 days and the duration of 2-3 weeks to see the final effects. It is highly important for an individual not to touch or rub treated areas of their face. It is also important not to massage the face for 3 days. Other recommendations are to avoid any activity that requires vigorous exercise, or sunbathing along with sunbeds. It is also advised to avoid the sauna for 2-3 days and a patient should also avoid any alcohol consumption within the time of the treatment healing process. All treated individuals will be advised about the required aftercare post treatment.
Botox usually lasts around a 3-4 month period. If an individual seeks to repeat the Botox process it is recommended to wait at least 3 months before proceeding. This is because if it is done too regularly the effects of Botox might stop working.
Potential risks after Botox treatment
After an individual has undergone Botox treatment they may have some side effects and these are different for every patient. The more common effects include a headache which may follow with flu like symptoms. This can usually happen within the first 24 hours post treatment. Another common after effect is the appearance of swelling and bruising on injected areas. Patches of redness can appear within these treated areas and it is also common to get temporary weakness within facial muscles. This can sometimes leave a patient with a frozen look and Botox can enter the eyebrow area causing a droopy look. However, these effects usually disappear within a short time.
