The Gordon Highlanders were raised in 1794 by Alexander, 4th Duke of Gordon. His wife, Lady Jane and their
daughters dressed in regimental jacket and helped to recruit the men for the original regiment! His son, George,
Marquis of Huntly, was the first Colonel-in-Chief and authorized the unit to wear his crest as their cap badge! The
regiment went on to become the most famous of all the Scottish Regiments AND British Regiments! Winston Churchill
who was Prime Minister of Great Britain during World War 2 called the Gordon Highlanders "undoubtledly the finest
regiment in the world!"
